How long do I have to wait to get my new deck installed?
As soon as we receive your deposit, we will agree a date for installation. Normally we install within 4 weeks of receiving your deposit.
How long will it take to install?
The installation times vary with the size and complexity of the deck, but most of our domestic jobs take between 2 and 5 days to complete. Caravan decks normally take about 1 day to install. If your deck includes glass, particularly glass in clamps, we prefer to do a final measure of the glass sizes after the deck has been installed, then order the glass which has about a 10-day lead time and return in a few weeks to fit the glass. We will give you an estimated amount of time up front based upon the design and site survey. We agree the schedule with you and then stick to the schedule.
Do I have to be there during the entire installation?
As long as we can access the site and have a power source, you do not need to be in the house/caravan whilst we install.
What happens if I find something wrong after you have installed and left site?
We do a thorough check for “snags” before we leave, but if you find any issues after we have left, you can contact us and we will return to fix it, normally within a week. Our installation services also come with a 10-year guarantee (1-year for subsidence), so you can call us anytime to come back and fix issues related to the product or the installation services at any time within 10 years.
Is the decking nonslip?
Yes. Our PVC product is designed to encourage water removal. Our PVC product is designed in such a way to prevent pools/puddles of water from forming. Our Composite product also has one of the highest slip resistance ratings set by the HSE. Both, therefore, are considered slip resistant and certainly more safe in wet conditions than wood.
What is the benefit of Composite as opposed to wood?
Check out our news article comparing decking products, but in a nutshell, Composite (and PVC) are much harder wearing, are expected to last longer than wood (and has a minimum 10-year guarantee) and is much lower maintenance than wood (no need for regular painting/staining/varnishing and is easier to clean).
Does it fade?
No. Our products are designed not to fade. Our PVC product will retain its colour for years, whilst some of the Composite might weather slightly in the first few months, giving a more textured appearance, but will not significantly change colour.
Is the decking eco-friendly?
Yes. Our products are made from sustainably sourced and fully recyclable materials. We also recycle our offcuts and packaging.
What is the Guarantee?
Our decking products and our installation services all come with a minimum 10-year warranty. The product warranty covers physical integrity, some stain/fade resistance, and structural failure under normal use/conditions. For specifics, we can provide detailed warranty documents specific to the product you choose. Our installation services come with a 10-year guarantee, with the exception of subsidence which carries a 1-year warranty.
What is the frame made of?
We have a choice of timber, aluminium and composite frames, however, we tend to favour timber frames which are cheaper and easier to use. We use treated timber and there are sufficient gaps in the boards and airflow underneath the timber frames to protect them and allow them to last as long as your deck. Our timber posts are sleeved in PVC before they are sunken into the ground to protect them from water and rotting.
Do I need planning permission.
Planning permission may be required if your deck is raised 30cm above the highest point in your garden or covers more than 50% of your garden area. We can advise during the design phase.
Can I jet wash my deck?
You can jet wash PVC and some composite decks, but it is not recommended to jet wash the coloured balustrade. We will advise you when discussing products.
How do I clean/care for my deck?
Normally the deck only needs an occasional hosing down or wash with soapy water and a soft brush/broom. We recommend you take some care when moving furniture on the deck and make sure your furniture does not have any exposed or sharp edges on the feet/bottom.
